CHARLESTON HARBOR TOURS
We will do our best to accommodate last minute charters but we highly recommend that you make a reservation in advance. Summer months and holidays we recommend calling a couple of weeks in advance.
You do not need to have six people to sign up for any of our cruises but the price is the same for 1 to 6 passengers.
No. United States Coast Guard regulations require that we take a maximum of 6 passengers per charter – No exceptions will be made. For larger groups, we recommend chartering two or more boats which is great fun!
Yes, they do. The United States Coast Guard considers every person, except for the Captain, as a passenger. Also, any child under the age of 13 must wear a USCG approved Type 1 PFD (life jacket) provided by you during the charter. Children require supervision by parent or guardian at all times.
YES! Do you need a charter with a certain time in mind and our departure schedule does not work for you? Schedule a Special Events Charter. It is a wonderful way to celebrate an engagement, birthday party, bachelor/bachelorette party, a corporate event, or just a day for you and your friends.
Summer time is hot but some may desire a long sleeved shirt to help keep the sun off. During the winter dress in layers with comfortable and casual clothes. Definitely bring a warm jacket or sweater because sometimes it can be a bit cool on the water. All passengers should wear soft-soled tennis shoes only. (passengers that are not wearing proper foot attire may be asked by the Captain to remove their shoes.)
A towel is a good idea and don’t forget your camera! You might also want to bring binoculars, hat, or sunscreen. Depending on the time of year you may want to bring along a jacket. The temperatures on the water always feel a few degrees cooler than on land. You are also welcome to bring beverages and snacks on the boat including alcoholic beverages.
Complimentary water and sodas are provided. We regret that we are unable to provide food and alcohol beverage service. You are welcome to bring aboard your own food, snacks and drinks. Bring a cooler, a bottle of wine, hors d’ oeuvres, even bring a picnic dinner! We want you to enjoy your time on board and feel right at home.
The vast majority of our guests do not get seasick. But concerned passengers should consult your physician with any questions regarding a medical condition such as seasickness.
Yes! Alliance meets or exceeds safety requirements by the United States Coast Guard with on board equipment that includes Type 1 Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) for every passenger, an approved Sound Producing Device, fire extinguishers, flares, a VHF radio, & an approved ring buoy. They also meet equipment, operation, and pollution prevention regulations established by the Coast Guard. Vessel Captains possess a valid license issued by the U. S. Coast Guard.
Cancellations due to weather are at the discretion of the Captain. If we must cancel your trip because of unfavorable or unsafe weather/ocean conditions you’ll be given the option of rescheduling. Cancellation due to bad weather will be made by the Captain after studying the radar 2 hours prior to departure. This allows for a full refund.
For the most part no, it will not rain on you. Most days in Charleston’s spring, summer and fall months there is a forecast of a 20% to 30% chance of rain. Thunderstorms will pop up on occasion but this is rare as the majority of these storms stay inland.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your trip, we require that you notify us a minimum of 72 hours prior to your charter date. If a reservation is made within 72 hours of the charter date, no cancellations, other than weather or at the Captain’s discretion are allowed. Credit Card information is taken to insure that your space is held for the dates agreed upon. No charge will be placed on the card unless you cancel with-in the 72 hour period before departure. Cancellation within the 72 hour period will incur the full price of the charter reservation.
Gratuity for your Captain or crew is not included in the charter price and is discretionary and appriciated.
The Alliance logo, sometimes called the “Loki Flag”, is an Alaskan Indian art representation of my French Bulldog, Loki (RIP), who loved the water as much as I do.
